My Reading Year 2024

I tracked my reading this year and pulled together some stats: 22 books, lots of sci-fi, and a surprising love for crime novels. Here’s the breakdown and what I’m aiming for in 2025.

I find it fascinating how most people I talk to who’ve had some level of success online crave anonymity — while still loving the process of creating and sharing. We all just want to make cool stuff and then disappear again.

Me included.

My 2024 Tech Stack

A look back at the tech I used this year: the hardware I rely on daily and the software that keeps my workflow running.

The typical lifecycle of a Substack writer is that after a while, all they write about is Substack.

Each post becomes commentary about the platform, until their identity is consumed by being a Substacker rather than a writer. That's what happens when your personality is "having opinions for money."

Has Everything Been Thought Before?

Your thoughts are uniquely yours. Even if something’s been said before, it hasn’t been said by you.

Pragmatic Humanism: My Philosophy

Over the years, I’ve pieced together my own philosophy. A work in progress shaped by curiosity, creativity, and the belief that balance beats perfection. This is what I believe in.

A few weeks ago, I heard someone say, "I'm too poor to buy cheap". It stuck with me ever since.

I identify very much with this belief. I don't buy things often, but when I do, they tend to be rather expensive. There's a reason I named the company overkill Media, after all.
