Reset Week

The year is basically done for me. At the end of next week, I'll be on a two-week vacation from my job-job, and apart from wrapping up one last thing, I’m also stepping away from overkill for a bit (on Sunday I'll send the last newsletter for the next two weeks).

I’ve got nothing planned: no family for Christmas (so, no Christmas dinner), zero interest in New Year’s Eve, and aside from my regular gym routine, my schedule is wide open.

But I’m planning to make this downtime count — not in a "grind harder" way, but restoratively. Here's how I’m planning to reset for next year:

  • Nuke all my timelines and inboxes. I still don’t read social media (I post and then bounce), but I’m clearing out all feeds, newsletters, and followings. Then I’ll add back only what’s worth it, one by one.
  • Reevaluate my tools. Are the apps, websites, and systems I’m using still aligned with what I want to do? If not, they’re gone. (Basically, I'll check everything not listed here.)
  • Map out 2025. Not a full year plan, but at least enough to know the direction I’m heading.
  • Review what’s on my plate. I don’t feel overwhelmed, but I’m probably doing too much. By cutting back, I can focus more on what matters to me.
  • Dig into a few curiosities. I’ve stumbled across some topics this year that I want to explore further. I want to spend time learning and deciding what’s worth pursuing next year.

Oh, and I’ll be sleeping. Like, a lot. If I don't have an average sleep score of 90, I have failed.
